On 10/14/11, the Jill Paolucci Memorial Coalition Against Cancer made our first donation. A good friend of the family referred me to an interesting news article about a local man, Mark Wells, and his daughter Linda. Linda has been fighting Peritoneal Mesothelioma for over 9 years. When I first learned about her story, Linda was preparing to have her 6th surgery to treat her condition. After meeting Mark a few times, we decided that it would be an honor to assist Linda and her family in any way we could.
Linda’s most recent surgery was in Maryland on 10/18/11. We provided her and her family with Visa gift cards to assist with their fuel, lodging, and food expenses for their trip. Mark has started a web page, http://kayaking4acure.org. Please visit the page to learn about the event that he has planned for next year to raise awareness for Mesothelioma. On 9/6/14, the fourth annual Kayaking 4 a Cure event will be taking place. I encourage everyone to get involved and support this important cause. Please take a look at the Times Union article that influenced me to contact Mark.
